My mum went to university and back then (1970’s/1980’s) a degree was a REALLY big deal. You could pretty much walk into a fancy management job straight away.
Fast forward 20 years or so and it was my turn to graduate. I left Nottingham Trent University with a 2:1 in Media. I had a good grade, but by then a degree had just started to lose its value. No longer was it enough to guarantee you a job. Typically the employers expected you to work unpaid for a while. Which is what I did.
Fast forward another 15 years and things have changed even more. Everybody and their dog has a degree. You are probably being told by your parents or others from earlier generations about the importance of getting a degree and how good grades will secure you that job.
Not so. We all know that this isn’t true anymore.
The more common route to employment is experience, usually in the form of an internship. But hang-on... the internships now require you to have some experience. So how do you get experience without experience?
That’s where we can help. At DigitalGrads, we want to give you the experience and skills you need to get the job you want. It’s a harsh world out there, with many lessons to learn. Join us, stretch yourself, and get a job to be proud of.
The Digital Skills Gap is very real.
Specific digital skills such as running Facebook ads, devising an Appstore Optimisation plan or executing an SEO strategy are in high demand and very short supply today. And what’s worse many of these skills are not being taught in traditional education.
I worked in marketing in various roles for media companies from 2002 to 2015 and I saw the world of marketing change rapidly. It used to be ok to be an all-rounder. To know a bit of email marketing, a bit of SEO and a bit of PPC, but all that’s ancient history.
To get real results for your business, you need specialist digital skills. And ideally you want to avoid spending hundreds or thousands of pounds on training.
We teach our grads the fundamentals of digital marketing, and we drill down into the specifics of each skill so they can start to be subject matter experts. We teach them practical things like how to optimise a website, how to generate leads on LinkedIn, how to engage an audience on Facebook and how to craft pay-per-click ad copy that converts.
That means that they will be able to make a worthwhile contribution to your organisation on day one - not in 6 months time.
We train the grads so you don’t have to.
We're here to help you and this is what each of us do...
-the marketing brains
-the one to speak to
-the creative one
-the webby one
Content & copywriter
-the techy one
We’re here to help millions of graduates develop digital skills and help millions of businesses to build the marketing teams of the future. We have three main beliefs that underpin everything we do:
We believe in cultivating diversity in digital marketing, after all we live in a culturally diverse world, so it follows that the workforce of the future is equally diverse. And with diversity comes creativity.
Our programme is free and levels the playing field giving all new grads an equal chance.
Businesses no longer need people who are just 'ok' at digital marketing. The field has evolved so much, and so quickly, that each business now needs very specific skills to effectively reach their target audience.
We are on a mission to arm the future workforce with the skills they need to thrive.
When something works well, there is usually a community of believers behind it. We all share a belief that that to be at the front of the digital revolution we must invest in the talent coming up through the ranks.
Join our quest and belong to the DigitalGrads community.
