This way of answering competency questions is so strong. These questions can be tricky, but sticking to a formula will keep your story from meandering off into a digression. You’ll keep it simple while painting yourself as the hero of the story. Score!

2 – Prepare a Pitch

Now, business development is basically just sales (ish). This means you’ll be doing a lot of talking to people who might not want to talk to you. You’re only going to have a few seconds to grab their attention.

“Thank you for taking the time to interview me yesterday. I loved meeting you and can really see myself working with you in the office, even though it’s on the 14th floor and I’m scared of heights! …”

This is so much more memorable than a dry “thank you I’m looking forward to hearing back” email. So please try not to be boring! Your sales should never be boring.

5 – Connect on LinkedIn

If you’re not using LinkedIn… where have you been?

This is another powerful way to stay in touch and remind your interviewers that you’re perfect for the job. This obviously requires some pre-planning though.
